wi-fi booster
« on: August 25, 2011, 01:13:25 PM »
Hi all,
i have found a way to boost the signal of the built in wi-fi
please only do this if you are confident with a soldering iron
1. take off the four rubber bungs from the face of the cover (this gives you acsess to the four screws.
2. undo the four screws and carefully unclip the frame from around the lcd.
3. once this is removed you will see the pcb in the left hand corner carefully uncip it and turn it around.
4. you will now see a printed circle with a dot in the middle,
5. solder a piece of wire (approx 2inch long) into the dot only not the circle!!!
6. take the other end of the wire and solder that to the square metal plate on the other side this then boosts the signal.
7. take it outside and see if you have stronger wi-fi if so connect everything back up and away you go. ( i removed the black tape that covers the little lcd so i can see when the wifi is on )
8.obviously with the increase in boost battery life is reduced slightly not a great deal, but well worth the modd
PLEASE REMEMBER DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG 8)
