I have installed Samba, but I cant find the program!
« on: January 27, 2010, 07:33:44 PM »
Yesterday I installed Samba from Wicknix repository at Taita.online. Everything went OK, but I can't fine the program! I have looked in de "bin" directory, but nothing. I have looked in other directory's but i only found a map with the name Samba, but no program. Can somebody tell me how I can start Samba? I want my Trendtac to join our home network, but how? Thanks for your help (perhaps this is really a stupid question, but I have my Trendtac only one month, and this is my first Linux machine.)  ;D

There is no 'samba' package on 3mx.taita.co.uk.  ???  I know there was one floating around on another web site at one time, but as far as i remember it didn't work, which is why i didn't upload it to the 3mx webpage with the other stuff i found or built/packaged.

Cheers.

You are right, I found the program at this site: http://www.xs4all.nl/~jostht/epc/ Been browsing thru taita.online so much that I thought this one was also from your site :D I am getting old  :'(
I removed the program. Do you have a suggestion for a program which I can use to connect to my home network?

I'm sure samba from debian etch mipsel repositories would work. I'm thinking maybe that other samba.xap might have missed a dependancy or 2, as in theory it should've worked. I won't have time this week, but remind me sometime next week and i'll see about packing it up, or just recompiling a newer version.

There is also 'lin neighborhood' which is similar to windoze 'network neighborhood'. Suppose i could look into that as well.

Cheers.
