New ultra-micro netbook from Korea
« on: February 25, 2009, 09:39:57 AM »
OK, it's pretty expensive at £365, but it just looks fantastic. Intel Atom processor, loads of connectivity.

Read a review at The Register.

"The mbook measures just 158 x 94.1 x 18.6mm and weighs only 315g, yet its diminutive 4.8in display has a 1024 x 600 resolution and appears to be stylus operated. A speaker sits on one side of the screen and a 1.3Mp webcam rests on the other."

"Two versions of the machine appear to be available, one with a 1.1GHz Intel Atom processor and another with a 1.3GHz option. Both come with 1GB of memory, but the Flash-based storage provided ranges between 8GB and 32GB."

A hands-on mini review is here

These are not bad either,Close relative of ours!!  http://www.exon-technology.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=55&Itemid=55&vmcchk=1&Itemid=55

Looks like the same case.  Hardware not quite the same though:

Quote
Specifications
CPU   Intel XScale 32-bit Multimedia Application Processor 416MHz
Or XBurst 400 MHz MIPSII (Optional)
Operation System   Windows compatible Linux 2.6 Preloaded
[...]

and the 'desktop' looks different too.  Interesting that they claim "PC701-LX now fully supports YouTube and most Flash enabled sites."

I'm intrigued by the concept of "Windows compatible Linux"!

I can see that claim leading to complaints that 'I can't install my favourite Windows programs'.
