PEAP (Protected EAPs)
« on: February 25, 2009, 02:20:11 AM »
Hi,

I'm relatively new to the minibook. I can connect my wifi to my home network but am struggling at the university where they use PEAP authentication only. Since the PEAP authentication requires a javascript client, am I right in assuming that my CnM Minibook will not currently connect?!

Also, is there a usermanual or anything for WiStumbler2?

Thanks,
Stripey

Is the wireless network the eduroam?
Or something similar, it's probably a WPA Enterprise network.
The following /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf sould work then:
(fill in your data)
Code: [Select]
network={
    ssid="eduroam" #or however it's called
    key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
    eap=PEAP
    identity="user@university"
    anonymous_identity="anonymous@university" # not really required
    ca_cert="/etc/wpa_supplicant/your-cert.pem" # You know where to get it?
    phase1="peaplabel=0"
    phase2="auth=MSCHAPV2"
    priority=2
}
Then you should be able to connect by typing
wpa_supplicant -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf -i eth1 -D zydas
run dhclient eth1 when associated.
You can also put your home network into wpa_supplcant.conf so that wpa_supplicant will connect to this when reachable. That's pretty easy:
Code: [Select]
network={
ssid="Networkname"
psk="Secret Key"
}
It usually autodedects everything else necessary.
