CnM or 901
« on: February 22, 2009, 10:48:29 AM »
A year ago Igot an ASUS 701. I wanted 1) to surf the web wherever, not just on my desktop and 2) be able to print letters etc typed on it. I've never used Linux. I won't go into the trouble I had trying to connect to the Web, after about 6/7 months I gave up and, as I couldn't find out how to print from it, gave it to a relation. Now I would like another try. I came across the CnM and, although it's Linux, it is possible to download a printer driver, but I'm wary of having the same problem with the NET. Should I go for the ASUS 901 with XP. I'm familiar with that OS and shouldn't have any problems plus it is approx the same size as the 701, and it has a bigger screen. I have a 3g dongle but would that work with the Linux on the CnM, if it won't then it will have to be the 901.
Would somebody be kind enough to tell me about the dongle and any other helpful advice

I think Windows XP on the 901 would give you a much smoother user experience, especially for printing.

Thanks, You have confirmed my own inclination - a 901 it shall be! I liked the linux shell on the 701 but if you have difficulty in doing what you want then it's best you stick to what you know can do!
