Elonex site..........??
« on: November 11, 2008, 03:59:21 PM »
Anyone know what's going on with the Elonex site? I was thinking of placing an order for a 2nd machine but the site doesn't seem to have a lot about the One(t) at the moment.......

It does seem to have changed a bit, the original One seems to have disapeared.

However these are there:-
Description Page - http://www.elonex.com/products/onet.shtm
Order Page - http://www.elonexone.co.uk/

Seems if you want anything other than black or white you have to buy the £150 bundle

They are promising guaranteeing delivery for Christmas, they dont say which Christmas though ;D

If I was sensible I would be inclined to agree with you (I've owned 2 EEEs so very familiar with them). The Onet is fun to play about with for £99, but looking at the site it seems Elonex aren't too bothered in capitalising on the run up to Christmas!

I think what I was trying to say earlier is I so want these to work! They are priced at £99, low energy consumption and run Linux. To me they are what a netbook should be. To go and go an Eee well, yes it's probably the answer but it's a shame. Had a quick look on the Elonex site again... they seem to have now removed all reference to the One in the products.

Only resellers.WE got lot more support from other sites, like CNM .
"It's only 100-120 pounds,so why complain?"I hate them for life because the way they treated us after we ordered these machines in feb-march,and Maplin and the others started selling them before us...

Well I've only just picked one of these up but I've been following the netbook 'scene' and know some of you folk have been waiting a long time for your machines. The thing is I don't think they are far away from a useful machine. FIx a few bugs like the booting problem, put a password facility on the machine and release an improved web browser would go a long way. Heck, maybe even a mini software store with a few educational programs!

Well this is exciting... after a quick check the Onet is back on the homepage this afternoon, so looks like it's going be around for a bit longer! Interestingly they have linked to the Elonex Shop, Littlewoods Direct and Marshall Ward resellers. Littlewoods Direct still seem to be at the old prices though, and the Elonex Shop is the only one offering the basic £99 package. No signs of the Onet+ without the bundle...

Humm

Just read the reviews on the Littlewoods/Marshall Ward pages

"Best Uses: Large Applications, Music, Video, Word Processing, Graphics"

Large applications?  Video?  Have they used the computer at all?  Do these reviews actually reflect users experiences?

Come on, I like the machine, my daughter loves it but would you still like it if you bought one based on these reviews?

And the Marshall Ward page offered me a Windows Upgrade with my OneT+...! :)

Do these people pay attention to their websites?

Imagine how slow that would be! (although I wonder if Windows Mobile would run on it??)

The big differences with Win CE seem to be the ability to run Flash within the web pages, and having Skype available.
