3 Mobile Dongle Connection - Hauwei E220
« on: November 02, 2008, 08:11:49 PM »
I downloaded the software for my minibook from www.cnmlifestyle.com to enable it to recognise the 3 mobile broadband dongle... Great!
However although it says "connecting" it doesn't and times out. The signal is fine so has anyone had any success?

I am waiting to receive (hopefully tomorrow) a Hauwei E220 dongle to replace the ZTE MF622 which does not worked so far with the cnm miniBOOK.  I will post my findings on this forum!
:) I received the dongle today.  Plugged it into the cnm_miniBOOK - it was recognised straight away.  Input a few details in the dialogue boxes exactly as per the support site at http://194.150.201.35/cnmlifestyle/downloads.htm and hey presto it worked.
I have poor mobile signals at home but they are workable from an upstairs room in the house.
When the dongle has a steady blue led then things work just as they should.  Only thing I have not checked yet is if it will work when SIM card pin is enabled.  As there appears to be no direct dialogue with the SIM card settings (apart from working with a PC of course) I shall report on this later.  :)

Hi I had the same problem of the connection attempt timing out, I bought a Huawei D100 wireless router from 3 mobile and now I can connect to the 3 network using the inbuilt wifi of the laptop. On a side note I have installed the new Xenium Linux Distro from http://www.littlelinuxlaptop.com/software.htm I love it and want this to be my operating system but I have been unable to get the wifi to connect to the router so I am back to the new elonex distro for now until Xenium is better at handling wifi connections.

I have managed to get the wifi working now, you have to type dhclient eth1 in LXTerminal. I am now using Xenium Linux on my Elonex

Yes,it can be.Modify the Xterm desktop file and save as something else (eg: eth1.desktop)
For eth0 you can download and install "MacBrowse" from here:  http://www.skytone.net.cn/en/bbs/download/file.php?id=8
