Since the 2.6 kernel doesnt have sound yet i decided to dabble with Etch again. I rebuilt mplayer with the ingenic patches and it runs quite nicely now in console and in X. Also built the latest bitlbee which now also supports facebook chat and twitter along with aim, msn, icq, yahoo, jabber. Gcc and most common dev headers are installed to compile on device if needed. It's not quite ready yet, but heres some teaser screen shots for now. Will add download link and more info once its ready.

This might be a long way off yet. Another hard drive failure. I give up on Maxtor. I might not be able to recover the files for this.

Wicknix that's something you just don't need all the trouble with hard drive's when they go down.
Hope you get up and running again soon. hope you can stiil get stuff of it.
Many Thanks
Andrew
