Title: Ideas for a bag, sleeve or carry case?
Post by: Chandalf on September 14, 2008, 06:55:42 PM
Has anyone found (or even thought about) a bag, sleeve or carry case for a OneT? Obviously it will go in one of my larger coat pockets, but in a satchel/messenger bag it will likely as not get scratched. The Asus EEEPC now has a number of custom sized options (I have the acrylic shell) to protect it. How likely is it that we will see a custom case for the OneT?

Ideas anyone?  ???

Dicota do neoprene zipped pouches - but they are a tad large - smallest appears to be for 13 inch mini note book...

Yes, I found the Maplin one (and cheaper on another webiste - Bags Direct I think). But it's not very 'cool'  8) (or even functional come to that!). I don't really know what I'm hoping for, something different?  ;)

Solved my own problem!

Lurking amongst all the other junk I habitually hoard, I found a Case Logic bag I had years ago for my CD Walkman. I took the disc player and about 8 CD's in their cases.

The disc pouch holds the OneT nicely, with the player pocket taking the PSU and the 'accessories' pocket my wireless mouse. All very neat and with a shoulder strap/carrying handle too. :)

I have found that a soft bag for the Atari Lynx fits quite well. It is a snug fit and the cover closes correctly but it would not protect the 2 end corners if you dropped it on them as the Lynx is a different shape. It has 2 handy pouches bu they are not big enough for the mains adaptor.

Here are some that would work, and they're cheap and varying colours:

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14341

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14371

I use dealextreme extensively and have had no problem with them whatsoever. They take paypal and it usually takes 9-14 days for things to arrive in the UK from HK.

Hi thekanester,

I ordered two, and a couple of other things too. If they don't turn up you'll be hearing from my solicitor  :o)

Thanx for the links.

Cheers

I've bought stuff from DealExtrme.. found them good...
They can take a while to send stuff though so I wouldn't be in a hurry.. but I figure the prices are so low its worth it..

I put an order in for about 15 items one time and got three shipments.. they sent stuff as soon as it was available like... last shipment came six weeks after the inital order... but they didn't charge for extra shipping..

So I'll be buying my bag from there.. they have nice little neoprene slip covers (no nasty zips) that will allow me to put the ONEt in my rucksack... and I spotted a very handy little rectractable network cable for like 3 dollars...

Hi guys,

Ordered the stuff Friday evening from DealExtreme and it arrived Wednesday - boy, that's quicker than some UK places I deal with!!

Another order going in soon (seen retractable iPod leads) now I have confidence in them.

The bags are great for the price, even if the pound is losing ground against the dollar - lol. To think I almost paid £19.99 at Maplin!!!

Thanx for the heads-up thekanester  :o)

Cheers

All the neoprene slip cases I've found are too large - I bought one on eBay for a 7" Asus eee and it turns out it's for a 7 to 9" netbook.

I'm thinking of boiling it to see if it will shrink  ::)

In the meantime, I found this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190350535332&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190350535332&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT) which although not exactly a slip case should be good to carry everything including power supply / 3G stick/ USB stick etc. around.

Waiting for it to arrive now ...

Cheers :)

Ever drink Crown Royal? The purple bag the bottle comes in is a perfect size. Not really protective from bumps and bangs, but keeps it clean. :D
