Hi Wicknix. I fancy playing around with anOS but would rather not install it to nand. Could I install it to SD card following the instructions you've given with the latest 3MXUltra release? I understand anOS has been released as an .img rather than tar.bz, is this an issue for installing to sd?

Hi Gezzz
The .img is for the 2.4 kernel so wont boot from SD card. But Wicknix also released a version of anOS for the 2.6 kernel no sound at the mo that can boot from SD card if you ask nicely wicknix may be able to upload it again.
Many Thanks

There is a 2.6 kernel version with sound and onboard dev tools like gcc. I used it to build some software for both the 2.4 and 2.6 kernel releases of anOS. You can get it here:

Cheers.

The 2.6 kernel version of anOS lacks a bunch of the goodies i packed into the 2.4 kernel version though and isnt quite as refined yet. The 2.6 kernel still has some bugs concerning the framebuffer when run in pure console mode. SDL games, mplayer using -vo sdl etc will cause a kernel panic. So software i tested that freezes the machine i left out of the 2.6 version.

What i've been doing is have anOS w/2.4 kernel installed to nand, then i boot the 2.6 kernel version from SD to build software, then copy the new software over to anOS on nand.

Cheers
