I stripped most if not all the 'locale' files out of Ultra to free up some space. Without them there really is no easy way to switch from WWE (world wide english) to french (or any other language).

Cheers.

I have tried to change/add  some confiig file in init.d directory.
The only thing i finally got: i cannot open a terminal or even mc anymore.

I don't remember if i kept the locale files in debian etch or not to be honest. My hard drive that held all my recovery.img's crashed a few months back so i cant easily take a look. Hopefully somebody running my etch release will speak up.

Cheers.
