Battery Life?
« on: September 23, 2008, 12:00:49 PM »
How is everyone getting on with Battery life.
My battery only ever gets to 75% charged (more often 50%) after all night on charge.
It then only last about 35min before it shuts down. Was hoping for 2-3hrs!

I get varied life from mine. I usually leave it on charge during the day at work and when I take it home at night I use the WiFi. The first time I used it on battery it got to 25% after around 30 mins. Last night I used it for over an hour and still had 75%

It makes be wonder if it is correctly sensing the battery charge.

I did wonder if it was a software fault (will try downloading updates tonight).
But equally likely the battery is duff - which would mean a return...

Run the battery down to Zero and then charge for 4 hours use until, repeat the process a couple of times.  My battery last 2 1/2 hours using WIFI. Wouldn't recommend charging battery over night.

Well the conclusion is I have a faulty battery (none of the suggestions made any difference - max life was 40min).
Reported to Elonex Support and they have offered to send a replacement battery for me to fit (happy with that).
Actually very prompt and helpful service....

Not Maplin.  They had no spare batteries, and I get the impression that they will not be generally available for a while yet.

I did locate and purchase  a spare battery on ebay, but that dealer was disqualified by ebay for no apparent reason.  Since, I have experienced 2 hours battery life on the new battery, but it appears to discharge whilst not in use.  Otherwise, I am very pleased, and the change to V70 means I can also use my 3 dongle

I'm getting three hours on my maplin minibook reading ebooks moving the text down every few seconds.
Doesn't seem too bad given how often the screen has to refresh.
Decent battery life could be due to my wife charging it fully overnight then flattening the battery as
she assumed it had shut down when the screen timed out.

I'm still getting over 3 hours when used for surfing over Wi-Fi, playing games or for viewing movies via Media Player. I tend to flatten the battery completely then do a full recharge overnight.
