I hope you all will enjoy ultra3 when it's done (couple more weeks i'd think)...

Any news on U3? Not trying to rush you, just worried I've missed something  ::)

Yeah it's still in the works. Just somehow my ubuntu desktop install decided to b0rk its partition table to the point of not booting. Using live cd's also are unable to mount my partitions (where my 3mx stuff is). I may just release it 95% finished and have to leave a few things out.

Cheers.

Also have a look at this:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/484677

This topic goes off topic to the state where people are claiming they can't boot because of this bug ('messages that shouldn't show').

Come on wicknix, release it please. At the moment a few people are already working on a usuable Lenny-environment (2.6 kernel) but it would be really nice if you could release the last stable of 3MX Ultra.

I don't ever want to sound like I'm nagging--and I will never stop being grateful for your extraordinary OS--but I too would love run the final release.

I packed up ultra3 last night. Uploaded while i was sleeping, but the upload never finished and stalled. I will try it again tonight when i get home. I had to leave a few things out, but i've fixed or added enough to make the upgrade worthwhile. :)

I'll post when its uploaded.

Cheers

Dear Wicknix,

Thanks for all your work regarding all versions of 3MX and Etch images. I definitely will check out Ultra3 parallel to the kernel 2.6/Lenny development. Maybe a dual boot would be the best option.

I have one last curious question: Do you have the intension to develop a kind of 3MX for kernel 2.6 as well now the kernel development is very promising (I actually run kernel 2.6 with Lenny and XFCE WM from SD card and must say that I am very impressed by the relative low CPU and memory  usage)? So hopefully we still see you around since you have a lot of knowledge which could be very helpful in the development of new kernel 2.6 based (Lenny/Android) images. So my “advice” to you: leave your other gadgets for later (hahahaha).

Regards and many thanks (in advance :0 ),

Once again my upload failed. No idea what's happening. I will have to try again tonight. Sorry for the wait. :(

JD1971: It's quite possible. Now that summer is here i wont be doing much. Too many plans made and not enough time. Once fall/winter kicks in i will have more free time to play around. If by that time the 2.6 kernel is 100% or near 100% i'm sure i'd probably fire up OE (open embedded) and make a nice mipsel Angstrom release or something.

Cheers.

wicknix--

With your borked Linux, what weren't you able to finish in U3?  I just want to know so I don't end up pestering you with questions about things that aren't there?

FezzFest: Nope. I live on 5 acres of land in the woods in a town of 410 people 30 miles north of the nearest city. If i have to i will break the rules at work and use one of the pc's here.

Jakfish: Honestly nothing, other than music in scummvm is still b0rked. (which i left out because of that). Xarchiver is fixed now, console font tools added to manipulate console fonts, new icon theme replaces the bland stock gtk application icons (really looks slick now), added spell check to abiword (type your stuff and hit F7 to check spelling), fixed the sound issue with flashplayer and xine (no longer have to run them twice to get sound), added pure-ftpd server, added PuTTY, added the ralink wifi drivers for those who need them, and i think i fixed most every lingering bug that was posted in the forums.

Cheers
