Fluxbox Help! - USB/SD And Ethernet/Wifi
« on: November 23, 2009, 10:48:37 AM »
Hi Everyone

I have installed the Fluxbox GUI on my Elonex One T and am very impressed how fast and responsive it is. Running the auto menu generator found most of the programs installed on my LLL (I use The Retro Distro).

However , there are some slight problems with using FLuxbox which i would love a solution for so i can use it to completely replace the default GUI (Matchbox)

1. SD cards / USB drives cannot be mounted or found
2. How do i get the Wifi Menu?
3. Ethernet is not working either!

As you can see , these are major problems which i will have to get sorted to have any hope of using this GUI as a replacement to the default one!

Hopefully some clever people on here will know what to do!

Kindest Regards And Thanks In Advance

It's probably more work than you want to mess with to get all that working. Everything is tightly integrated in the default desktop. If you want an alternative desktop give 3MX 1.2 a whirl where everything you are asking about works.

Download and preview of the upcoming 1.3:

For wifi just run 'wireless-lan' from xterm. For the default OS's auto mounting utility make a script that will run 'desktop-backend' after X11 is started. That should get you going in the right direction.

Cheers.

Wheyyyy now the USB/SD Mount is working

Seems there was already a script telling the desktop-backend to launch

Just placed a reference to it in the fluxbox startup file
