Yes you can have any of the OS on here.
But you need to use a SD card rather than a USB.

The One+ uses a recovery.img file (from the Elonex Support Site). This comes out at 770,240 KB which is quite a bit larger (and probably a different format) than the OneT's equivalent .rec file. Dunno what this might mean but I suspect it's a non-trivial problem.
Elonex ONEt: user since Xmas 2008.
OS Version: ELX-V07 + extras
Ubuntu: user since May 2008.
Windows:  user/programmer since the dawn of time. :)
Linux Level: working towards 'Intermediate'.

Also tried to use the retro recovery.img from wicknix's topic, but one+ just ignored it and started to boot from the main drive...guess the OS is unchangeable :-\

Now, I can't remember where (It might have been here waaaaaaaaaay back before some of the units were shipped!) but some one said they were gutted about the "upgrade" they were getting from Elonex one, to Elonex One T.

This is because the one uses an x86 processor?

Might be way off, but thats what i can remember.

"I wanna go fast!"
"Tango With Added Tango... You've been Tango'd!"

This has been my first experiance with linux, the LLL. Now i have installed it on the laptop that came with M$.!

Seagull is correct. The cpu isn't the same, nor are the kernel and software versions. The one+ and oneT are totally different machines inside and out.

Maybe. From the Ubuntu site:
Absolute minimum requirements
  • Intel 486 processor
32 MB of system memory (RAM)
    300 MB of disk space

From Wicknix links: “LNX Code 8” 486 compatible, 300MHz, 256MB Ram, 2GB Flash.
So Ubuntu should be able to run on it, but of course the box isn't supported by default, so installing *can* be a pain in the *.

x86 with limited memory and storage capacity!  Sounds like a case for DSL  http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/download.html
You can even load it on a pen drive and run from within your existing system.

I don't think the One+ has a IBM-compatible BIOS, so booting from USB stick will not be that easy.

There are a number of boot managers LiLo, Grub, etc, and DSL will run from within another operating system so you can try it to get a feel.
