HELP! Dektop disappered (OneT)
« on: September 16, 2008, 11:18:39 AM »
I just switched themes on my OneT and the tabbed desktop has disappeared!

Any suggestions on how I get it back?

After three attempts at downloading the recovery file from elonex (at a couple of hours a time) I finally got one that worked.

All restored and running first try :-)

Just had the same problem - desktop gone apart from the taskbar at the bottom.
Tried reset, then downloaded image(2hours) and ran the procedure - restored the image no problem and it said recovery successful and rebooted....or tried to - it hasn't gone past the post screen.. tried rebooting it, reloading the recovery image, again it said successfully, but no further progress - waiting for tech support to come back - anybody any ideas/suggestions?

The instructions on this site seem to be more detailed than on the Elonex site.  ;)

Am positive the first time I tried, it said Recovery successful, but that may have been a dream or wishful thinking....anyway, have noticed now that it says 'finished, and a couple of lines above is a message 'file not found' or words to that effect...have tried with the files from elonex, and have also downloaded the rapidshare version, always the same message. I've even tried to load the trendtac and alpha files, but they come up with a 'bad file' message. Have been passed to a 'higher level' of support by the helpdesk, and currently am awaiting a call from them 'within 72 hours'...
Anybody any ideas ?
Anybody know how to edit/view the uImage file - my guess is that it loads the other file and that where it calls the file to load it, the filename is wrong, so if I could find what it thinks the recovery image file is called, I could try renaming the recovery.rec file.

OneT+ recovery
The recovery files must be an a FAT16 formatted drive, SD definitely works. USB FAT16 not tested
And the key to get to reflash was "F3" on mine

m1bxd, you are a GEM.
Been using a USB stick which I was told to format first, and of course under XP, and presumably Vista, formatting is to FAT32. Got an old SD card out of my camera, copied the files on it without formatting, and whoopee, it worked.
It would account for why some people are getting it to work and others aren't. Still waiting for that 'higher level support' to call me back 'within 72 hours' - when they do, I'll pass it on.
Again, many thanks for your help.
