I know you don't have access to the router, bad luck, but you might like to have a look at the following URL from 9 September last year . The details of my router may just ring a bell for you of the problem..... look at post #20:

Thanks, but without being able to see the settings here none of that meant much to me. I assume that most of the settings on the router will be factory defaults.

I've discovered another potential bug with VLC Player. When I start it from the menu a window with a grey background appears briefly, then disappears and nothing else happens. When I run it from the terminal with the command vlc [path to video] the same happens, and the terminal output reads:

 It is potentially dangerous, and might not even work properly.

Is anyone else having this problem or am I doing something silly?

smitchell: VLC is working fine. Had you installed anything that *wasn't* from my package repository? I can't guarantee outsourced packages won't break the system. I'm pretty sure duttydea's packages are fine, but anything from other sites, even skytone, cnm, etc have not been tested. I'd reinstall/reflash to get vlc working again.

monoreille: Your cell phones modem may not be compatible. I was informed that 'dialing in' with pppd may not work overseas. Works fine with my blackjack 2 here in the States however. The device entry /dev/ttyACM0 is the phones modem.
