I'm still having this problem too. Is there any troubleshooting I can do. Have changed changed on router (was 5, now 10), no difference. Tired without preferred network and with one. Again makes no difference. After installing rc3 initially wouldn't connect (but didn't crash). Then after reboot Wifi connection program would freeze

Wish i knew what to tell you. Worked fine when i tested wep at my mother's house (i dont have internet access other than tethering to my cellphone)... and i talk to a guy on irc almost daily who connects fine with wep also. The only thing i can think of is that you have a picky router. Maybe cycle power to it a few times, otherwise no idea as it works fine for most people.

Cheers.

No. Each new release contains bug fixes from previous releases and any new 'official' updates or patches are applied. Everything is up-to-date in rc3.

Maybe try your luck with rc1.1 and see if that connects. If not then i'd say you have a problem elsewhere as that release wifi worked for everybody.

Cheers.

I'm using wpa, so maybe the problem is with that. 1.1 wpa works absolutely fine. What's the difference between the wpa setups on 1.1 and 2/3 (both of which hang for me)?

I get the internet to work by messing about with my routerr a bit.
Infact its been fine since i set 'auto channel' off.

One problem for me is, the messenger freezes upon login. How do i get pidgin back?

WPA with 3MX -RC3 is working fine! Try to change to an lower chanel on your router! (ch 1 - 3 should be the best)
After starting the wireless-app, dont move the window, do not maximize it! Just double-(or tripple :D)click the AP, you want to connect! Check your router, that no MAC-blocking is active!

poltoff, maybe try a different french keymap? I just included one i found on the internet. Take the keymap out of your default recovery file if that one initially worked for you. I've only tested the us-int keymap.

Cheers.

Just for the record.... WPA2 on my minibook works fine with the 3MX versions v1.1 and v3, and with v2.1 with the patch of three files noted in threads in this 3MX section. v2 is known to be problematic.

If you're having problems I suggest:

- is your minibook definitely an Elonex or CnMLifestyle?
- do you have kernel v70 loaded?
- reload the 3MX distro
- is your wifi modem router at fault or wrongly/strangely configured?

To answer these questions to try to get to the bottom of this:
- Works on 1.1, but not 3 (or 2.1 with patch)
- Elonex
- Believe it's v66. Did install most recent Elonex image before installing 3MX, but splash startup screen still shows v66
- Tried that
- No (and have tried various channels etc)

Also it seems that resizing the wifi connection window to full-screen is linked to the freezing. Just double clicking on the network allows it to try to connect (though it fails) without hanging. However, after failing to connect, double (or triple) clicking the network does nothing.
