I will attribute that to pure weirdness, because now it's working perfectly.. I think the obvious mistake I made was to copy the help.txt over with the copy of the recovery image.. Seem's to be working fine now.. :D

Could have been anything, me unmounting the USB too early, the txt file on the SD with the IMG file.. I guess I will never know...
