Struggling with the ONEt, for some reason I expected things to be more compatible and to be able to download software to handle things where the "delivered" software was poor.  Also having used Microsoft for too many years and trying a different OS I knew it would be a learning curve but hoped there would be more guidance available.

Trying to get Pidgin to connect to my MSN account but am failing.  Can someone give me some pointers?

Its a bit hit and miss with pidgin, sometimes it works other times it doesnt. I dont mean to sound patronising but have u filled out the fields? the section for email address isnt labled in a way that makes sense.
best bet is to keep fiddling with it.
