3MX-rc2.1 Bugs Thread

When trying to install pcmanfm

Mkxap displayed this error:
Quote
./mkxap: line 91: tarball.tar: command not found
mv: cannot rename 'tarball.tar.bz2' no such file or directory

I bypassed the Xap Creator and extracted the data.tar.gz  directly from "/" folder

I got this error:
Quote
pcmanfm: error while loading shared libraries: libhal-storage.so.1: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory

Since pcmanfm is no longer part of 3MX it isn't really a bug. :)  However you need to download the pcmanfm-nohal version unless you feel like grabbing all the files required to run hal also.

Cheers.

Cheers!!

It was more a case of highlighting the error in creating patch & Xap. (Bzip2)

I've got a Maplin CnMBook from last year and had great fun with it.

Greatly enhanced today by discovering 3MX! Wow what a great distro. Congratulations to wicknix. I Have downloaded and installed V1.1 and V2.0 and now using V2.1. and doing this with Firefox connected on WiFi (wep)

Noticed a small bug in bootup terminal. If at # prompt you press CR instead of startx, terminal prints CR LF prompt (user@minibook ) then CR again, then the  #.  So anything typed overwrites the hostname prompt. Looks as if there is no LF printed when CR is pressed.

Looking forward to an application installer directly from mipsel .deb archives.

Yeah, that seems to be a problem with the kernels frame buffer driver. It doesn't clear/refresh the console. You can do it manually by typing ' clear '. I noticed it on the default OS as well after the xterm and inittab patch. Certain things work fine in console like watching videos with fbxine and using mc. However trying to use a console irc client like bitchx cant refresh the buffer either. Its an annoyance i hope skytone or somebody can fix with a kernel patch.

Cheers.

The same problem (CnM)

BUT...

if you start xwindow, then press ctrl + alt + F3, you will get command line in text mode (sepateate tty) without "scrolling" problem.

(if you want to get back to xwindow, use alt + F2)

EDIT

I have problem with SD card. (...) I solved that one second ago - do not create "sd" folder in root directory, or you will have problem with mounting SD cards ;)

I have problem with wlan settings (3MX 2.1)

When I'm launching wireless-lan, I get info

Code: [Select]
Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_set_name: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed
And continue starting application (I found that problem in Bugzilla, even solved , but solution tells me completly nothing.. :/

Ok, we have wi-fi manager launched, my acces point is detected (WEP 128 bit, hex key), trying to connet, IP Address invalid, refresh and voila.. but address is not from dhcp range, and router doesn't shows in "dhcp statistic", that my CnM got any IP.

Ok then.. I'm trying to set fixed IP on CnM and.. and then wifi manager is crashing, giving me in xterm that info:

Code: [Select]
*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (out): 0x005db710 ***

I'm not quite sure, but it started, when I copied "WPA-making-able-to-connect" files into /sbin direcotry (but that's my subiective opinion, nothing proved).

Yesterday I was able to connect without problem (original OS), today, after long fight I connected for a while, and after that connection has died. And it's still dead.

Any ideas?

EDIT
Solved
That problem wasn't only in wifi manager. The reason was simple - I've increased font size in /etc/jwm/jwmrc (window manager config file) in <WindowStyle>

I have an issue with Pidgin. It wont let you scroll in the conversation window. For now we can press control L to clear the conversation window but it would be nice to be able to scroll back, paticularly if you need to see somthing was said earlier.

"Wow baby i was booorn! With a fast fuuuuse!"
"I wanna go fast!"
"Tango With Added Tango... You've been Tango'd!"

This has been my first experiance with linux, the LLL. Now i have installed it on the laptop that came with M$.!

Issues found by me to date;

Autostart of xmodmap is not possible - starting as swallow in JWM gets an new issue with death FN+Shift-keys  :(

Can´t get my WinMobile(6)-phones running as modem (HTC Touch Diamond ... ?)  :'(

Changing to directorys on SD-card in MidnightCommander gives an error (cant change to ...) - it changes to the selectet directory, but gives such messages.  ::)

Can´t change the default language in MX-2.1. On  MX-1.1 it was not a problem to copy some (*.mo)files and change an locale-file, but in the 2.1 this doesnt work  :-\

i think, it´s enough to the moment... if there would not Dillo and FireFox3 i would change back to MX-1.1  ;D
