I'd suggest installing rc2.1 (or rc1.1) if you haven't already as rc2 is somewhat quirky. As for the invalid ip error... I cant seem to locate the thread at this moment, but i recall some people mentioning that clearing the DNS entries in the network settings seemed to solve that problem.
