Recovery file
« on: September 08, 2008, 06:47:50 PM »
The recovery file on the ELONEX website is a dead link,I e-mailed them yesterday and today received a reply which reads:-
Hello,

I’m afraid that we are unable to supply the recovery software at present – sorry about this.

Should you wish to return for refund please let me know and I will issue a returns number.

Best regards

So they have shipped thousands of these laptops with no hope of recovery if a crash occurs, appaling way to treat customers.

Steve,

There is a recovery file listed here http://littlelinuxlaptop.com/software/recovery.htm But I have not tried it.
Use it at your peril  :-\

I have had no sucess with the recovery file or with the reset button and have today requested a refund.I suspect that many more people will do the same, sadly disapointed.

Steve,

I had a further support callback this evening, and during the conversation the guy intimated that a recovery file may be available by this coming weekend. No promises, but ut looks like they are getting there.

I agree though that the device should not have been released without a means for disaster recovery.

I guess you may be takng your refund to Littlewoods Direct and using a discount voucher to bag one of their bundles   ;)

Ive tried to download the official recovery file several times but the server is very slow it keeps timing out. Tonight is the furthest i've got so far with it, at the mo its 23% done estimating 7hrs approx to complete. Its only downloading at 3kb/sec approx. Keep you posted if i manage to download it.

I'm attempting to load the update, has anyone does this sucessfully as i'm not sure what I'm doing wrong

I have a 2Gb SD card with the two files from the zip file one it recovery.rec and uimage. I put the SD card into the oneT, and hold Fn, Left shift and the F1 keys while turning on and get a white screen. Then what? no menus load, have no idea if it's working or broken.
I'm I doing something wrong?

Try fn + F3 instead.
Keep holding until you get the recover txt on screen

Hi,
I have just downloaded the recovery file from Elonex, extracted it and there is only ONE file within.
It shows as Recovery_sun-uk-7.5k-v2.rec no uimage as previously mentioned.

Have Elonex finally got a new version?
More to the point has anyone successfully installed this file.
