Hi
There is no auto find for shared printers - unfortunately you have to add it yourself from scratch
For your HP 5550 printer (substitute for other printer types) on your windows machine
computer name JDUB, ip 192.168.0.2
printer name HP5550
(substitute for the correct names)
1. open the printer manager (this opens a bon echo window with the cups interface)
2. click on administration
3. click on add printer
4. fill in the fields
-Name : HP5550
-Location : your main computer
-Description - anything you want
5. click on continue
6. select device lpd/lpr host or printer
7. click on continue
8. device URI : lpd://JDUB/HP5550
OR lpd://192.168.0.2/HP5550
9. click on continue
10. Make : HP
11. click on continue
12. Model driver HP Deskjet Series CUPS 1.2 (en)
OR HP New Deskjet Series CUPS 1.2 (en) (latter didn't work for me on 930C)
13. click on add printer
14. Enter user name : root
password : [anything you want]
15. click on ok
16. almost there
17. SET THE PAPER SIZE (media size)
18. click on configure printer
19. click on print test page
20. if it doesn't work
21. click on stop printer, cancel all jobs, and modify printer
22. change JDUB to 192.168.0.2 in the device URI, because it probably coudn't get host name resolution from the DNS
23. click continue through the other options
24. retest
25. still not working? Get a pen
