There are some updates which include one for the wifi.
I am trying to DL them right now but it doesn't seem to want to work properly.
You will need to set the laptop up on a wired connection first though.
To do the updates you go to the tab "others" and select the software updates program.

Let us know if you try this and get it working.

Others seem to have got wifi working with varying degrees of success.

One of the comments on the blog notes about enabling b/g on your router.  Not sure if this would help.  http://elonexone.org.uk/2008/09/02/elonex-one-ts-on-their-waypost-your-review-comments-here/#comment-79

Ok I have DL the patches, it is very slow!
And it still doesn't work.

I have 2 Onetplus.

One worked fine out the box and the other (delivered at the same time) doesn't?

Oddly though when updating the patches the one that worked out the box needed 4 updates and the one that isnt working only needed 3 updates?

If you contact Elonex support it will take you ages to get through even though you are no.1 in the que and then all they do is take your details and say someone will call you back in the next 2 days!

Hi

My WiFi is orking fine. Wireless signal strength 97%. Only needed to set WEP i wifi section, and give it a bit of time to get ip, which it did.

I ordered two OneT's and both took over a minute to set up from start-up. allow the computer to settle and then click the wi-fi icon.

I clicked on the wi-fi tab and let it search for the signal - select from the list of available connections (make sure its yours) enter your wep code and then go back to the desktop. Go to the echo browser icon and select and the web browser opens.

Over 40+ seconds to find the wifi signal - I use BTHome hub , both connected at the same time at 24% signal strength -the distance from the router/hub - 10feet.

Web pages are eye strainingly small - yet to determine if I can magnify the screen?

hi i have had a call from the tech guy and he can not get it working he seems to think that there is a prob with the actual unit so they are sending another unit out to swap.
man what a bummer.
seems strange that the white one i have works fine.

Besides other wifi problems (also see topic 'Does the AutoDNS work in wifi?') my browser downloaded pages in fits and starts. In the end I remembered that awhile ago I'd set the channel on my Zoom X6 wifi modem/router to channel 11 as that is only one of two that doesn't overlap other channels. So I set it to channel 10 and it then worked great!

Re. the sig.strength value - a mate and I came to the conclusion that this really means percentage redundancy (i.e. they have it the wrong way round, or it's misnamed), so 24% means 76% signal strength. This works out correct.... close to my wifi (about 10ft.) I get 24% and two rooms away in the kitchen I get 76%.....

::EDIT:: Just tried the sig.strength again right up close to the router (about 12 inches) and it shows 96%. Strange....

I've been having the same problem with getting the WIFI work working.  The solution is to disable any MAC filtering and enable the SSID.

My OneT worked out of the box, with hidden DHCP, SSID, WEP and using channel 6 on an old Linksys 802.11b router.

The wireless range looked suspiciously good on mine, reporting 96% when I was two rooms away and through closed doors. I was also able to see more neighbours' networks than with either my Dell XPS laptop or my Dell Vostro desktop.

Perhaps it's because the plastic is so cheap and thin on the screen bezel that it offers little resistance to the radio waves!

The plastic is so cheapo on my white unit that you can see the green LED of the wireless stick flashing beneath it! It all adds charm, I have to say.

Hi,
Well, it seems I'm not alone with Wi-Fi difficulties  :-\
I have tried just about everything I can think of including the tips on here, but I cannot connect to my network wirelessly.
My network is configured as hidden SSID / WPA-Personal / TKIP / open / mixed mode, through a Linksys WAP54G.
The AP is connected to an SMC wired router (I usually have MAC filtering on both but have tried switching that off on both)
The only thing I haven't tried is switching it to WEP.

Sometimes the Wireless OneT+ says "Connected, Aquire IP address..... Then says "Connected. IP Address Invalid"
It connects fine via ethernet cable (hence this post)
Interestingly "ifconfig" in Xterm shows completely different MAC figures to the MAC on the printed label underneath the OneT+  ???
Neither eth0 or eth1 MACs match the label!!

Is it likely that Elonex support visit here? If so, give us some clues guys please.
BTW I have e-mailed them, but I'm not holding my breath.

OK diatribe over ::)

Martin
I know I have my brain backed-up somewhere............

Martin

I had the IP address invalid issue, i resolved it by enabling the SSID on the router and changing from 128 to 64bit WEP encryption and i can connect fine now. Not an ideal solution but will do while i play a bit more with setting etc.

i have spoken to elonex today and they are sending a new unit out. but i thought i would give it one more go and i have got it working now i changed the channel on the router
and it connected right away with no probs
i have a netgear router and im with sky.
the elonex man said today that they are having issues with sky and bt hubs
if you have the same router open up a web page on your pc and tap in
192.168.0.1 and press enter
then it will ask for your user name and password then type in admin for your user name
and sky as your password and then you can change it from there
