theme problem
« on: September 08, 2008, 01:49:37 PM »
Hi guys,

I got my one t+ last Friday and out of curiosity I have selected the alternate (children’s theme). The problem is now I can’t access any applications. There are no desktop icons which I would expect however this is my first experience of linux. Any suggestions before I spend £20 on the phone to Elonex support??

Any suggestions much appreciated

JK

Hi,

Not sure if yours is the same, however I changed the default (blue-ish) elonex theme for the one with a picture of a car on it (there were only these two options).  After a fairly long-ish wait (can't remember what the dialogue box said) I got the new theme - there were still icons on it, and also tabs at the top in a similar fashion to the default theme.  What I did notice is that the xgalaga game that I had installed from littlelinuxlaptop.com had disappeared and I had to reinstall the game to get it back.

I changed the theme back to default by going to the settings tab and changing the theme, then everything was back to normal.  How does this compare to what you've found?

Someone mentioned here that they'd found a re-set button on the back of the unit - maybe this would work (might lose your saved data though?)

Cheers

Jay

Jay,
I tried to download Xgalaga from the site and the link for the .patch file is wrong!
It points to the mahjong  .patch file, so Xgalaga doesn't install.

Can you help out with the .patch file?
The Grand Children are becoming restless  :o

Thanks,
Martin

Edit: OK, never mind. I've got the file now.......silly me.  ::)

Errrr: Going OT but is there any sound with xGalaga? Ours is extremely silent!

:-\ Just a quick update... I spoke to Software support today (btw I rang the 0871 number and raised the ticket for a call back - cheaper than the other number) and all their suggestions didn't help however the onet+ recovery files will be out within a week (a month in Elonex years so I might sit it out!?
