With F3 you can't load the uImage. Only the recovery file.
Yep! that's correct!
SHIFT+Fn+F1 for full recovery including uImage (MBR)I believe
F3 alone for an OS only recovery.

No,not exactly:
SHIFT+Fn+F1 for  uImage (MBR)
F3 for an OS only recovery (.rec or .img )

OK now i'm really confused! Can someone please post a step-by step guide as to how I install the "linvideos" file to get Videoonline to reset the date. I have installed Xterm and (i think!) midnight commander.  Is it worth installing the latest version 8 of Videoonline from the Cnm site before the "linvideos" patch is applied? By the way what does midnight commander do?

Thanks in advance!

Have you got an icon for "Video Online" in the "Internet" tab?  If so, click on it to run it; it /is/ "linvideos".

The correct command to run it from a command prompt is

linvideos

1) Yes, it's well worth adding if you want Youtube vids
2)Midnight commander is a command line file management application. It reminded me of the old Xtree app for DOS. If allows you to copy, move delete, or text edit files without having to learn the ins-and-outs of the command line.

Rodonn,
Could you confirm, following this message & the one you posted in a similar thread ...
Have you recently downloaded Videoonline (which machine / software version do you have by the way?) & then added the linvideos patch?

I had downloaded the one they were calling "new" before the new year ... so it worked for about two days, until it then told me I had to pay for the registration.

I've tried doing the linvideos patch, but as I'd also done various other things (e.g. various other updates from the CNM site [and, I wasn't that bothered about YouTube anyway, it was my nephews that were & we've now swapped netbooks, so I have the lighter, non YouTube one & they have the heavier, YouTube one. )

If I can get it to work (easily) I would, but not sure that I really want to spend ages faffing about (especially as I've now got it working with the 3G dongle, which I'm far more likely to use than YouTube.

I just installed the stuff in this order

VideoOnLine-v08-register.info
PID-register-jh(20081230).info
sys-curl-7.18.1(20081229).info
sys-Wget-1.11.1(20081024).info

Basically you need to make sure the register info goes in second. Try a reinstall.
