Does the AutoDNS work in Wifi?
« on: September 07, 2008, 11:50:07 AM »
Hi. Got my Elonex OneT+ a couple of days ago and had problems with it finding sites, even though AutoDNS was ticked in the Wifi setup. In the end I put my ISPs DNS servers (Demon Net - 158.152.1.58 and 158.152.1.43) into the NETWORK DIAL UP > PROPERTIES,  kept the AutoDNS box ticked and voila, it all started working OK.

However, my mate who I got a machine for, tried his here and he had problems getting to any sites too. Sure enough he put Public DNS servers in (Open DNS - 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220) and again it all started working!

I have a Zoom X6 wifi modem/router but cannot think that caused the problem... is it the Elonex?

(Also, for those not in the know, you should have DHCP ticked. This makes your machine talk with your ISP for it to get correct settings for TCP/IP - the method used to access the Internet).
