telnetd
« on: September 06, 2008, 11:33:07 PM »
Hi

Just started up telnetd from the xterm on the onet+, and can now telnet into it from my desktop using putty

http://www.esnips.com/doc/d2bc45be-c24c-46bb-a30a-fca84f557a4e/elonex01

Going to see if I can compile an ftp client on a cross compiler, so I can copy files back and forth over the network, without using sd cards, or the internet (a sad omission if you ask me)

Chris, is Midnight Commander available to be run from the GUI, or is it a command line thing? I added the patch you mention but it's not showing on the GUI anywhere.... and although it went through the load process OK in Add-Remove it's showing 0 bytes in the patch list.... Hmmm....

Hi

Midnight commander is a console file manager, far superior to the built in gui file manager.

Run it from xterm with the command mc
in colour mc -c

You can run programs from it, manage files, ftp with it (though I havn't tried that yet, and it has a far simpler file editor than vi. You can also use the mouse. It takes a lot of work out of changing file permissions, copying, etc etc. Anybody who wants to delve into the system should use mc!
